EVENT POSTPONED -- Many philosophers (Fred Dretske, Michael Tye, Chris Hill, Alex Byrne and David Hilbert) and some scientists (Kevin O'Regan) have recently proposed that the explanation of the phenomenological quality of experience resides in the external world, not in the brain. I will explain a version of this view. Then I will develop some empirical arguments against it. I will conclude with some positive morals.
