"Hong Kong Democracy and the Future of Canada-China Relations"

Presented by Gloria Fung

The people of Hong Kong are suffering through an unprecedented crackdown on civil liberties and democracy under the National Security Law. They are now the frontline of opposition to an expansionist dictatorial regime that has also infiltrated and manipulated political, community, academic and media sectors in Canada. We will examine what Canadians and the Canadian government can do to defend the freedoms we hold dear in our own country and support the Hong Kong people in their struggle for freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law.

GLORIA FUNG is a coalition builder and political commentator.  Gloria Fung has been a strong advocate for social justice, democracy and human rights. She is a key organizer in the Canadian movement opposing the Chinese Communist Party's suppression of civil liberties in Hong Kong under the new National Security Law. She is dedicated to raising public awareness of China’s infiltration and intimidation on Canadian soil and promoting a strong Canadian foreign policy toward China.
