An International Presentation and McLaughlin College Lecture by, Judge Judith Gleeson

Judge Gleeson will look at how the judge-made principles in the Bangalore Principles have influenced the global assessment of judicial integrity, and how they seek to protect judicial integrity in challenging times.

JUDGE JUDITH GLEESON has been a refugee and migration law judge in the United Kingdom since 1995 and an Upper Tribunal Judge since 2010.   She read Jurisprudence at Lady Margaret Hall College, Oxford and was a Weiner-Anspach scholar on the Diploma in Civil and Community Law at the Université Libre de Bruxelles before qualifying as a solicitor of the Supreme Court. In March 2020, she was honoured to be appointed a Fellow of McLaughlin College, York University, Toronto.  

Judge Gleeson has a lifelong interest in international and comparative law and is a long-standing member of the International Association of Refugee and Migration Law Judges, for which she is currently leading a working party on the human rights nexus in international protection and migration.
