All Welcome!
Part literary detective story and part personal journey, MUM is a documentary drawn from Magda Creet’s memoirs, letters and poems, an archive of a holocaust survivor who left a paper trail to her hidden past. The trail leads to Hungary, where local memory reveals the story she tried to forget.
Filmmaker and York University English Professor Julia Creet will present MUM, her documentary charting the private journey into her family history. Following a paper trail of her memoirs, letters and poems, she is led to the small Hungarian town Szekes-fehevar, and towards the eventual uncovering of her mother's secretive past. Often revealing and occasionally nostalgic, this examination into the nature of family exploration is a film not to be missed. (Toronto Jewish Film Festival)
