Panelists:

Anthea English, Assistant Comptroller General, Internal Audit, Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, Anthea is joining us until the end of March 2018 to undertake an assignment as Executive-in-Residence at the School of Public Policy and Administration. Her work at York will focus on public service renewal, support of improved recruitment and the professional development of our students. Anthea’s career has spanned 36 years of public service, including senior roles as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, CFO at the Ontario Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, as well as Chief Audit Executive for CMHC, Canada Post, and Human Resources and Skills Development Canada.

Fred Nagy, Certified Management Consultant and Project Management Professional (PMP), Fred leads a boutique consulting firm, Solutions in Context, focused on managing integrated Enterprise Digital Service Transformation and improving Business/IT Workflow & Service Management. In this capacity he has worked with a variety of units within the Ontario Public Service. Fred has been a consultant for most of his career – e.g. he led consulting practices for Xpedior, Deloitte/DRT Systems and Polaris Computer Systems Ltd. and acted as in-house consultant for Datacrown and Procter & Gamble.

Valentya Navolskyy (BPA Specialized Honours, Policy Analysis stream class of 2011 and MPPAL class of 2013) Senior Policy Analyst, Accessibility Unit, Strategies and Partnerships Branch at the Regional Municipality of York, Valentyna started her career with York Region in 2010 as a Research Assistant in the Accessibility Unit. Currently, she is a Senior Policy Analyst responsible for developing policies, monitoring and reporting corporate compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and supporting the York Region Accessibility Advisory Committee.

Preeya Rateja (MPPAL class of 2014) Senior Analyst, Ministry of Children and Youth Services, Preeya has been with the Ontario Public Service since June 2007, starting as a Probation and Parole Officer with the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. She has since then, worked in various capacities such as in areas of Court Modernization with the Ministry of the Attorney General, the Human Rights Plan with her home ministry as well as management level positions. Currently, she is a Senior Analyst with the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, Collaborative Initiatives Branch, Youth Justice Division. She is also a reservist with the Canadian Armed Forces.

Laksh Vig (BPA Specialized Honours, Management stream class of 2012) Government Relations Assistant, Office of the President at York University, Prior to joining the President's Office at York, Laksh was at the Daisy Group, where he executed government relations and public relations campaigns using the War Room model on behalf of clients in various sectors (public, private, non-profit, charity, and First Nations). In his current role, Laksh is helping manage York University's relationships with government and political stakeholders, briefing the Chief of Staff and President on political and legislative developments and their impact on the university's interests, and publishing a monthly newsletter showcasing York's activity in areas of interest to government officials. His other experience includes managing the constituency office of a Member of Provincial Parliament and working on election campaigns at all levels of government.
