Facilitated by Heather Bergen, Sr. TA, Teaching Commons
12:30-14:00, Wednesday, February 12 in 701 Ross Building South
Do you have students with a variety of levels of comfort with spoken and written English? Would you like strategies to support participation in discussion-based activities in the classroom? English is not the first language of a third of York students, many of whom have varying degrees of comfort participating during tutorials. This interactive session will share research on effectively integrating English language learners and facilitate a space to share experiences and strategies for helping students learn.
All TAs are welcome to attend. NEW first-time Foundations TAs will be paid one hour of compensation at the CUPE overload rate. This workshop counts towards the Record of Completion Certificate offered through the Teaching Commons. For more details, visit the Teaching Commons website. Please RSVP “TA Workshop #6 Attendance” in the subject line to sims@yorku.ca
